Ann Exum was born a 1704. She was the daughter of Francis Exum I and Mary (Unknown). Ann Exum married Unknown Williamson a 1725.
Ann Exum's life was very difficult to untangle because there were at least two Ann Exums living in Isle of Wight Co, VA, both married into the Williamson family, and both with sisters named Sarah during the same generation. Each Ann and Sarah Exum were included in their parent's will as Ann Williamson with her sister Sarah Exum. This researcher is unsure which Williamson this Ann married, but there is no indication she was the wife of Francis Williamson.

According to an unsourced website called Fortsville, Ann Exum, daughter of Francis and Mary Exum and sister of Francis Exum Jr. was born in Isle of Wight Co, VA about 1701. She married Arthur Williamson and had three sons named Exum Williamson, Arthur Williamson Jr., and Jesse Williamson all born in Isle of Wight County. Ann left a will in Isle of Wight dated March 14, 1752, the same day as did her husband (part of Isle of Wight became Southampton in 1749). She died 20 Oct 1777. (https://www.fortsville.com/?page_id=1856) Whether this Ann Exum married Arthur Williamson (or the other Ann Exum married Arthur), this researcher was unable to find a probate circa 1777 for any Williamson in either Isle of Wight or Southampton counties.

Ann (Unknown)1,2,3

Ann (Unknown) was born a 1666. She married Francis Williamson I, son of Dr. Robert Williamson I and Jane / Joan Allen, a 1686.
Not all ancestral research efforts come to a successful conclusion even when there are primary records to lead you in the right direction. Legend was Francis Williamson (died 1743), the son of Dr. Robert Williamson, was married to Ann Exum, and there was a mulitgenerational history of intermarriage between the two family lines and reuse of the names Francis Williamson and Ann Exum. There were even two Ann Exums born about 1700 and married into the Williamson family, as documented by their parent's wills, but neither woman was available to marry Francis Williamson (died 1743) and have his children who were born about 1687 until 1694.

Ray Rowland's research concluded Francis Williamson's wife was Ann Exum and her mother was Mary Exum. Mary's will probated in 1749 named all her living children including an Ann Exum Williamson: legatees son Francis; daughters Elizabeth Smith, Olive Williamson, Ann Williamson and Mary Exum. Unsourced online trees added the mother Mary Exum was the wife of another Francis Exum (born ~1670), the son of William Exum and Jane Wills. Based on the timing of Mary's will, the presumed chronological list of her children therein, and other family members dates, Mary's daughter Ann Exum Williamson would have to be born about 1704 -- which would be after the children of Francis Williamson (died 1743) were born, so this Ann Exum Williamson cannot be the mother of these children, including our ancestor. Which Williamson this Ann Exum married is unknown.

Most online trees stated Ann Exum, the wife of Francis Williamson (died 1743), was the daughter of Willliam Exum II (born ~1672) and Susannah Purcell. William's will probated in 1720 named his living children including an Ann Exum Williamson: sons John, William, Joseph and Robert; daughters Anne Williamson and Sarah; and wife Susan. The will of his daughter Ann Williamson probated in 1753 showed her linkeage to her birth family by noting her brothers John, William and Joseph Exum (brother Robert was deceased); sister Sarah Exum; (no descriptor) Moses Exum; cousins Ann Westray and Susan Atkinson; and (no descriptor) Eliza Exum, but did not name any children. This Anne Exum Williamson also was born about 1700 to fit into her birth famly, and thus she could not have been the mother of Francis Williamson's children who were born in the 1690s, several of whom were alive in 1753 and thus would have been included in her will. Ray Rowland concluded that this Ann Exum married Arthur Williamson.

Both of the Ann Exum Williamsons discussed above were granddaughters of William Exum and Jane Wills.

The Jeremiah Exum family, related as cousins somehow to William Williamson and Jane Wills, also had two Ann Exums in the family: an Ann Lawrence Exum, widow of Jeremiah Exum, and their daughter Ann Exum, wife of George Green. George Green's will was probated in 1705. Jeremiah Exum's will was probated in 1712 by which time his daughter Ann was apparently deceased: legatees daughter Elizabeth; daughter Mourning; daughter Christian, the land I bought of James Collins; grandaughter Catharine Scott; my cousin Jane Exum; daughter Sarah; daughter Mary; daughter Jane; wife. Thus neither Ann Lawrence Exum nor her daughter Ann Exum Green were available to marry Francis Williamson and have his children in the 1690s.

Thus this researcher concluded that none of the four known Ann Exums living in Isle of Wight Co, VA were the wife of Francis Williamson (died 1743). Francis
probably did not marry an Exum because that erroneous conclusion was likely based on the above discussed wills.

Because Francis Williamson was in numerous county records as an estate appraisor, witness and executor, those documents were examined to see if they provided an idea of his wife's maiden name, but Francis was primaily appraising what appeared to be neighbors' estates unless he was involved in an immediate family member's probate.

If more records are found providing different birth dates for Francis and his children this discussion will be revisited.

Father:James Huckaby II (a 1725 - a 19 May 1796)

Elizabeth Huckaby was born a 1752 at Halifax Co, North Carolina. She was the daughter of James Huckaby II and Sealey Williams. Elizabeth Huckaby married William Huckaby, son of Samuel Huckaby and Elizabeth Ann (Unknown), c 1772. Elizabeth Huckaby died in May 1831 at Jasper Co, Georgia.
Elizabeth Huckaby married her first cousin, William Huckaby, the son of Samule and Elizabeth Ann Huckaby. Elizabeth's first known child was born in 1773 so she was presumed married to William Huckaby before then.

Elizabeth's brother-in-law Thomas Beach Dorsey included in his 19 Feb 1821 will mention of a Liza Whatley, formerly Liza Huckaby, from whom he and his wife had presumably received slaves, so Elizabeth may have remarried or this could refer to Elizabeth's daughter. The 1820 Walton Co, GA census had an Elizabeth Whatley over age 45 with one male each ages 10 - 15 and 16 - 25; by 1820 our Elizabeth would be about age 71 and unlikely to have younger boys in her home, so this may not be the person to whom Thomas was referring in his will although Walton is close to Oglethorpe Co, GA, or as said this could be Elizabeth's daughter.
