     Jessie A. Kimbrough was born a 1835. He was the son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett. Jessie A. Kimbrough married Sarah E. Credille a 1860.

     Sarah E. Credille was born a 1840. She married Jessie A. Kimbrough, son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1860.

     Sarah H. Credille was born a 1835. She married William Gaines Kimbrough, son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1855.

     Josiah Winslett Kimbrough was born a 1832. He was the son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett. Josiah Winslett Kimbrough married Mary E. N. McCain a 1867.

     Mary E. N. McCain was born a 1847. She married Josiah Winslett Kimbrough, son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1867.

     Louisa Kimbrough was born a 1826. She was the daughter of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett. Louisa Kimbrough married Perry Morrison a 1846.

     Perry Morrison was born a 1821. He married Louisa Kimbrough, daughter of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1846.

     Martha A. Kimbrough was born a 1828. She was the daughter of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett. Martha A. Kimbrough married John T. Mathis a 1848.

     John T. Mathis was born a 1823. He married Martha A. Kimbrough, daughter of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1848.

     Elizabeth Kimbrough was born a 1824. She was the daughter of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett. Elizabeth Kimbrough married John C. Lucas a 1844.

     John C. Lucas died. He was born a 1819. He married Elizabeth Kimbrough, daughter of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1844.

     Mary Frances Kimbrough was born a 1818. She was the daughter of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett. Mary Frances Kimbrough married Dr Thomas Todd a 1838.

     Dr Thomas Todd was born a 1813. He married Mary Frances Kimbrough, daughter of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1838.

     Benjamin Franklin Kimbrough was born a 1822. He was the son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett. Benjamin Franklin Kimbrough married Lousia Bridges a 1847.

     Lousia Bridges was born a 1827. She married Benjamin Franklin Kimbrough, son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1847.

     John Hall Kimbrough was born a 1820. He was the son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett. John Hall Kimbrough married Mary Josephine Woodward a 1845.

     Mary Josephine Woodward was born a 1825. She married John Hall Kimbrough, son of John Kimbrough II and Esther Winslett, a 1845.

     Sarah E. Winslett was born on 13 Dec 1842 at Putnam Co, Georgia. She was the daughter of Jonathan Winslett I and Gillian / Giliead 'Gilly' D. Bagley. Sarah E. Winslett married George W. White on 30 Aug 1864.

     George W. White was born a 1839. He married Sarah E. Winslett, daughter of Jonathan Winslett I and Gillian / Giliead 'Gilly' D. Bagley, on 30 Aug 1864. George W. White died c 1872.

     James M. Winslett was born c 1845 at Putnam Co, Georgia. He was the son of Jonathan Winslett I and Gillian / Giliead 'Gilly' D. Bagley. James M. Winslett died in May 1870.

     John James Winslett was born c 1825 at Greene Co, Georgia. He was the son of Jonathan Winslett I and Gillian / Giliead 'Gilly' D. Bagley. John James Winslett married Mary A. Pool ? c 1841.

      A Jno Winslett, age 15 -19 on the 1840 Greene Co, GA census, was living alone with 21 slaves, 12 of whom were farming. John was about age 15 at the time, and although young to be living alone with 21 slaves, John's father was half-way through a decade long prison sentence at the time and these slaves may have been working on land which belonged to John's mother. (Note that the census pages are copied out of order.) Also notable was that living nearby Jno Winslett, besides our ancestor Jonathan Wheat, were S. McMichael with a young family totaling 10 persons; C. Wheat with a young family totaling 3 persons; J., S. and B. Kimborugh; and E. Ward, representing other surnames in our family.

John was noted on the 1850 census as John J. Winslett, a farmer.

     Mary A. Pool ? was born c 1823 at Georgia. She married John James Winslett, son of Jonathan Winslett I and Gillian / Giliead 'Gilly' D. Bagley, c 1841.

     Kathleen Driscoll is the daughter of John Joseph Driscoll and Margaret Mary McCabe.

     Julia A. Winslett - Owens was born illegitimate in 1820 at Greene Co, Georgia. She was the daughter of Parthenia / Perthene "Pertha" Bagley. Julia A. Winslett - Owens died at Putnam Co, Georgia. She was buried at Putnam Co, Georgia.

      Julia A. Owens was noted as being born in Alabama and Georgia on the 1850 and 1860 Georgia censuses. She was illegitimate and used both of her mother's husbands' names.

     Benjamin Merritt was born c 1777. He died a 1850.

      Based on the research of Charles Rathbun, Benjamin Merritt was originally in Jasper Co, GA where he served in the War of 1812. He was also in some of the early Georgia Gold Claims as being "of Jasper County." Early Church records show Benjamin’s first wife could be named Nancy. Benjamin is found in adjacent Jones County in the 1830 and 1840 censuses but back in Jasper County by 1850 residing with some of his children and second wife, the widow Rebecca Watts who he married in the 1840s. He had sons James Wesley Merritt, Greenberg Merritt, George W Merritt, William Merritt and others. There is no other Merritt in the vicinity who could be the father of Benjamin other than Madrack Merritt although there is the possibility Benjamin was a son of a different Halifax Co, NC Merritt.

Based on DNA evidence, from descendants of James Wesley Merritt, Rathbun believes Benjamin Merritt of Jones and Jasper Co, GA was a son of Madrack and Jane Merritt of Halifax Co. NC, son of Thomas Merritt (circa 1734-1794). Madrack was in Halifax Co, NC in 1800, but then moved to Georgia about 1805. Madrack was the only Merritt in Jones and Jasper Co, GA during this time frame. His first wife was his first cousin Jane Merritt, daughter of John Merritt Jr (ca. 1736-1805) and he married Barbara Cavender in 1818 in Jasper Co and is listed in the 1820 census. Madrack had sons William Madrack Merritt who moved to Arkansas, and Thomas Merritt who moved to Upson Co, GA and died there in 1847. Madrack may have been the father of Penney Merritt who married William Morrison in 1818 in Jasper Co, GA. Madrack is shown in a few Jasper County deeds and records up through about 1825. His widow Barbara Merritt is listed on the 1830 Jasper Co census, but is listed in one of the 1827/1828 Georgia gold claims as a widow.

Benjamin Merritt of Jones and Jasper Co, GA is often confused with two other men of the same name. He was not the same Benjamin Merritt who married Alcey Terrell in Wake Co, NC and died there in the 1860s. He is not Benjamin Merritt (ca 1777-1840) of Franklin Co., NC who married Celia Bush.

     Margaret (Unknown) was born c 1799 at Scotland. She married (Unknown) McLeod a 1814.

     (Unknown) McLeod was born a 1789. He married Margaret (Unknown) a 1814.

     Catherine McLeod was born a 1817. She was the daughter of (Unknown) McLeod and Margaret (Unknown). Catherine McLeod married Daniel Gillis a 1837.

     Daniel Gillis was born a 1812. He married Catherine McLeod, daughter of (Unknown) McLeod and Margaret (Unknown), a 1837.

     Owen W. Owens was born c 1810. He married Parthenia / Perthene "Pertha" Bagley, daughter of William Bagley and Aggie Clemens / Clements, on 15 May 1829 at Putnam Co, Georgia.

      Owen W. Owens was a farmer. His wife may have been Patience who was age 33 in the 1850 Georgia census. Owen was noted as being born in Alabama and in South Carolina on the 1850 and 1860 censuses. Since Owen and Julia A. Owens Winslett were living in the same household they may be siblings. John, Andrew and George Owens were either Owen's siblings or his children.
