William Bell was born a 1685 at Lancaster, Virginia. He was the son of Henry Bell I and Rebecca (Unknown).
William Bell was born about 1685 in Lancaster Co, Virginia. It was first thought that William was the son of Henry Bell and his second wife Rebecca, but they may have been his adopted parents. In the will of Francis Lancaster Manuel senior written in 1689, Francis stated that two of his children, William and Avis were live with Henry Bell and his wife, who appeared to have adopted them both later. So William is only one person, he may have been William Manuel and chose to keep the last name Bell after being adopted by Henry Bell and his wife. However, it is possible there was both a William Bell and a William Manuel, so finding any court record of the adoption would be important. Alvis was not mentioned in the 1695 Henry Bell will so may have died.
William Bell most likely married a Katherine Garton, daughter of Capt. William Garton and Margaret Angell, although this William Bell may have been William Manuel.
