     Susan Tappan August is the daughter of Thomas Tappan August and Mary E. Mulhurn. Susan Tappan August married Thomas Westcott Abell on 22 May 1965 at New York, New York.

     Thomas Westcott Abell was born a 1940. He married Susan Tappan August, daughter of Thomas Tappan August and Mary E. Mulhurn, on 22 May 1965 at New York, New York. Thomas Westcott Abell died in Nov 2022.

      Albert Tappan August was christened by Rev Joshua Pelenkin; there is a the three year difference between when he was born and the church ceremony, but there is no indication he is the second child of this name. He lived at 2415 Kensington Ave, Richmond, VA.

     Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker was born in May 1880. She was the daughter of (Unknown) Bodeker. Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker married Albert Tappan August, son of Benjamin "Ben" Tappan August and Gertrude Ellis Shell, in 1899 at Washington, District of Columbia. Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker died on 4 Aug 1954 at age 74. She was buried at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia.

      The 1900 Richmond, VA census record for Augusta August stated she was born in May 1880 in Virginia; her death certificate showed a 12 May 1876 birth date. She and her husband Albert August were living with her mother Fannie R. Badeker age 43 and Augusta's siblings. Augusta reported she had been married 3 years and had one child named Albert.

     Irene Bodeker was born a 1878. She was the daughter of (Unknown) Bodeker.

     Albert Tappan August II was born c 1899. He was the son of Albert Tappan August and Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker. Albert Tappan August II married Margaret (Unknown) a 1932.

      Albert Tappan August II had two girls and then a boy.

     Margaret (Unknown) was born a 1912. She married Albert Tappan August II, son of Albert Tappan August and Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker, a 1932.

     Oscar Fitzallen Weisiger I was born on 28 Apr 1820 at Richmond, Virginia. He was the son of Jacob W. Weisiger and Elizabeth Mills. Oscar Fitzallen Weisiger I married Sarah Ann Southall, daughter of Turner Southall and Mary 'Polly' Christian, on 26 Dec 1839 at Henrico Co, Virginia. Oscar Fitzallen Weisiger I died on 14 Feb 1886 at Richmond, Virginia, at age 65. He was buried at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia.

      Oscar Weisiger's great grandson, Mr. Goolsby of Bon Air, Richmond, VA inherited the Weisiger family Bible which notes the Southall - Weisiger marriage. The Bible is was owned by his widow Adelaide Flippen at 4305 Oxford Circle West, Richmond, VA 23221 and her son lawyer Alan Goolsby, 9 Stonehurst Greeen Street, Richmond, VA at 804-282-7312.

     Sarah Alice Weisiger was born on 16 Nov 1844 at Richmond, Virginia. She was the daughter of Oscar Fitzallen Weisiger I and Sarah Ann Southall. Sarah Alice Weisiger died on 24 Aug 1886 at age 41.

     Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Weisiger was born on 16 Nov 1842 at Richmond, Virginia. She was the daughter of Oscar Fitzallen Weisiger I and Sarah Ann Southall. Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Weisiger died in 1911.

     Frances August was born on 26 Oct 1901. She was the daughter of Albert Tappan August and Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker. Frances August married Fred C. Mullin II a 1921. Frances August died on 12 May 1980 at age 78.

     Fred C. Mullin II was born a 1896. He married Frances August, daughter of Albert Tappan August and Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker, a 1921.

     Carol Mullin is the daughter of Fred C. Mullin II and Frances August.

     Katherine August was born on 9 Mar 1906 at Richmond, Virginia. She was the daughter of Albert Tappan August and Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker. Katherine August married James Harwood II a 1925. Katherine August died on 29 Aug 1991 at Ahoskie, Hertford Co, North Carolina, at age 85.

     James Harwood II was born a 1900. He married Katherine August, daughter of Albert Tappan August and Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker, a 1925.

     Josephine August was born c 1914. She was the daughter of Albert Tappan August and Augusta "Gussie" Bodeker. Josephine August married Jack Hardaway Baskerville a 1946.

     Susan Baskerville is the daughter of Jack Hardaway Baskerville and Josephine August.

     Malcolm Douglas August was born on 17 Sep 1875 at Richmond, Virginia. He was the son of Benjamin "Ben" Tappan August and Gertrude Ellis Shell. Malcolm Douglas August died on 26 Aug 1876 at Richmond, Virginia. He was buried on 27 Aug 1876 at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia.

      Sadly in her diary Gertrude August Shell reported “My precious baby has been taken from me. He died on the 26th of August [1876] of congestion of the lungs aged 11 months and one week. Although his whole life was one of suffering and weakness, still I thought he would get strong as he grew older.” "We buried him on a lovely Sabbath morning. Every thing seemed fitting to the occasion. It was a beautiful day at an early hour, and all was calm, as if the peace of God rested upon us. As we stood listening to the solemn words of the burial service, one of our friends held a wreath of flowers waiting to put it on the grave, and a beautiful bright butterfly lighted upon it and remained. Everything seemed to speak of hope and joy." However, from this day forward Gertrude was incredibly sad and longing for her baby boy.

     Robert Munford 'Monk' August was born on 3 Feb 1881 at Richmond, Virginia. He was the son of Benjamin "Ben" Tappan August and Gertrude Ellis Shell. Robert Munford 'Monk' August married Elizabeth Starling, daughter of Wilson Elroy Starling, on 23 Sep 1909 at Baltimore, Maryland. Robert Munford 'Monk' August married Dorothy Osburne Laidley, daughter of William Sidney Laidley, on 6 Jan 1917 at Charlestown, West Virginia. Robert Munford 'Monk' August died on 27 Oct 1945 at Richmond, Virginia, at age 64. He was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Charlestown, West Virginia.

      Robert Munford August was confirmed on 11 Apr 1897 by Bishop White at St James Church in Richmond, VA. Robert attended Virginia Military Institute for four years but failed his final examinations in geology and mineralogy in 1902 and did not graduate. By 30 Apr 1910 Robert, age 29, was living in the boarding house of Arista B. Hager in Balttimore, MD and working as a special agent for fire insurance; his new wife Elizabeth was not living with him. Their child died young.

Robert lived at 634 Stratton St, Logan, WV. He became one of Logan, WV's most prominent businessmen establishing the August and Bray Insurance Agency where he was president. He was active in religous and civic circles, being a founder and senior warden of Logan Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce and secretary of the Kiwanis Club. His bible is owned by Nels Randolph Benson.

     Elizabeth Starling was born a 1889. She was the daughter of Wilson Elroy Starling. Elizabeth Starling married Robert Munford 'Monk' August, son of Benjamin "Ben" Tappan August and Gertrude Ellis Shell, on 23 Sep 1909 at Baltimore, Maryland. Elizabeth Starling died on 10 Aug 1911 at Baltimore, Maryland.

      Elizabeth Starling and Robert Munford August's infant son died early.

     Philip Southall was born c 1784. He was the son of CPT Turner Southall. Philip Southall married Maria (Unknown) c 1804. Philip Southall died c 1815. His estate was probated on 21 Sep 1815 at Charles City Co, Virginia.

      Philip Southall, son of Turner Southall, was presumed to be the Philip whose will in 1815 indicated he was dying young with underage children; however these could be two different Philip Southalls. The 1815 will noted lower Charles City Co, VA land which had just been hurriedly sold and six slaves. (Charles City Co, VA Will Book 2, p 340.)
