Arthur Ray Rowland's career was in increasingly responsible Alabama and Georgia librarian positions culminating as a college professor. For years he led the Georgia Library Association. His genealogical research and resultant numerous publications are based on well-sourced courthouse research. Given that his work was done pre-internet in the 1990s time has proven his results to be remarkably accurate in establishing six generations of three lines of Rhoda Atkinson's ancestors; the two exceptions are a Jacob Whitehead and one of the Arthur Whiteheads were extraneous to our direct line based on will transcriptions now available. Also based on now-proven death dates, a couple of Whitehead records were attached to the wrong person with the same name. This book duplicates the author's indexed book Atkinson Family in Virginia with Connections to Gwaltney, Marriott, Flake, Flack, Williamson, Holleman and Allen Families, 1998, https://archive.org/stream/AtkinsonFamilyInVirginia/…. This publication is copyrighted and was used with permission given to this researcher on 24 Jan 2019 by the author's daughter Anna Dobbs, who is the fourth great granddaughter of Hiram Rowland and Rhoda Atkinson, as is this researcher.
