     Katharina Mueller was born on 26 Oct 1593 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. She was the daughter of Leonhard Mueller and Magaretha Beurlin. Katharina Mueller married Hans Rembold, son of Sebastian Rembold and Katharina (Unknown), on 27 May 1600 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg.      Martin Mueller was born a 1500 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. He was the son of Laux Mueller. Martin Mueller died a 1562 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg.

      Martin Mueller was a buergermeister or city councilman and in 1545 "steuert aus 700 guilden," possibly meaning he controlled 700 guilders (62,585 euros / 76,680 dollars in 2018.)

     Laux Mueller was born a 1470. He died b 1525.

      Laux Mueller, or Lukas Miller as he was also known, was a citizen of Lauffen.

     Magaretha Beurlin was born a 1551. She married Leonhard Mueller, son of Martin Mueller, on 1 Aug 1571 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. Magaretha Beurlin died on 3 Apr 1630 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg.

     Maria Schultheiss was born on 23 Feb 1614 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. She married Johann Jerg Rembold, son of Hans Rembold and Katharina Mueller, on 2 Mar 1636 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Nicodemus Maier II married Regiswindis Mettner, daughter of Martin Mettner and Waltpurga (Unknown), on 4 May 1613 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Nicodemus Maier II married Catharina Tuchscherer on 16 Nov 1624 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Nicodemus Maier II married Elisabetha Ruoff on 16 Feb 1636 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Nicodemus Maier II died on 16 Feb 1637 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, at age 49.

     Catharina Tuchscherer was born a 1604. She married Nicodemus Maier II, son of Nicodemus Maier I and Anna (Unknown), on 16 Nov 1624 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. Catharina Tuchscherer died a 1635.

     Regiswindis Mettner was born on 26 Feb 1591 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. She was the daughter of Martin Mettner and Waltpurga (Unknown). Regiswindis Mettner married Nicodemus Maier II, son of Nicodemus Maier I and Anna (Unknown), on 4 May 1613 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Regiswindis Mettner died on 27 Jun 1624 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, at age 33.

     Caspar Mettner was born a 1520. He died b 1545.

      Caspar Mettner was a citizen of Lauffen, Germany. In 1537 Caspar owned a house in Talhofen, a former hamlet which originally lay within the Lauffen village bounds.

     Anna (Unknown) was born a 1538. She married Mathais Mettner, son of Caspar Mettner, a 1558. Anna (Unknown) died a 1564.

     Maria Meder was born on 1 Jan 1569 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. She married Martin Mettner, son of Mathais Mettner and Anna (Unknown), on 17 Jun 1617 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Maria Meder died on 14 Oct 1634 at age 65.

     Waltpurga (Unknown) was born a 1570. She married Martin Mettner, son of Mathais Mettner and Anna (Unknown), a 1590. Waltpurga (Unknown) died on 18 Dec 1616 at Lauffen am Neckar, Heilbronn, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany.

     Margaretha Martin was born a 1631. She was the daughter of Conradt Martin. Margaretha Martin married Georg Friedrich Fink I, son of Bernhard Fink and Regina Dorss, on 18 Nov 1651 at Bretten, Karlsruhe, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany.

     Conradt Martin was born a 1600.

     Endres Holderich was born a 1604.

     Hans Conradt Fink was born in Jul 1661 at Bretten, Karlsruhe, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. He was the son of Georg Friedrich Fink I and Margrethe Holderich. Hans Conradt Fink was christened on 7 Jul 1661 at Bretten, Karlsruhe, Baden-Wuerttemberg.

      Pam Wurst's research showed one of these five sons of Johann George Haag listed on the 1857 census was the father of Anna Maria Haag:

-- Johann Jakob and his wife Anna Margaretha, both age 30;
-- Heinrich Philipp and his wife Katharina Margaretha, both age 27;
-- Johann Konrad age 25 and his wife Louisa Margaretha Hagelganz age 24.

     Barbara Hild was born c 1751 at Isenburg, Germany. She was the daughter of Heinrich Hild and Anna Barbara (Unknown). Barbara Hild married Johannes Haag I a 1773 at Kutter, Saratov, Russia. Barbara Hild died b 1817 at Kutter, Saratov.

     Heinrich Hild was born a 1717 at Germany. He married Anna Barbara (Unknown) a 1745.

      Kutter was founded at the confluence of the Popovka and Karamysh Rivers on 8 Jul 1767 by colonists recruited by agents of the Russian Government. The colony's original German name of Brenning was in honor of its first leader. The name Kutter came from the Russian word for farmstead - khutor. The original 79 colonist families came from the two German regions of Isenburg, Hesse, Prussia, in south central Hesse. The congregation in Kutter was part of the Reformed parish headquartered in Messer. By decree dated 26 Feb 1768, Kutter was given the official Russian name of Popovka.

From the website of Dick Kraus, according to Popov, the official Kutter census taker, in 1798:

"This colony is located ... on the Berseite, along the Bolshoi [Great] Karamysh River. It is located 80 versta [1 verst is slightly more than 1 km.] from ... Saratov, 110 from ... Kamyshin, and from the neighboring colonies of Biedeck, 20; Balzer, 10; Messer, 5; Doenhof, 4; and 20 from the Volga boat landing.... All are of the Reformed faith, and belong to the parish in the colony of Messer, where there is a pastor, but there is a church here. Small children are taught reading, writing, and catechism by a schoolmaster under the supervision of the pastor in his own house (Mai, vol. I, p.141)."

"Property of the colony is bordered by lands of the aforementioned four colonies and by those of the manor of Bobrovka... According to the inhabitants, 50 desyatina [1=2.7 acres] are under cultivation... They... hold 75 desyatina in hay fields... This colony has shortages of everything it needs, and as a result ... most of the farming is conducted on ... non-arable land. Up to 600 desyatina are plowed each year.... They farm with ploughs and horses. They do not use any fertilizer. On the arable land harvests are good, but poor otherwise. Every summer gophers consume a significant quantity of the sown grain... Because of inadequate harvests of hay, they purchase it from neighboring colonies. Instead of firewood, they burn dung fuel. They have no possibility of improvement from any direction... They do not have sufficient fleece or hemp ... all are involved in farming ... in addition, the women make paper for the colony of Sarepta. They receive about 700 rubles a year from the agent of that colony who resides here. Of the skilled trades, they have 4 blacksmiths, one metal smith, three wheelwrights, 5 weavers, and two cabinetmakers. They are favorably disposed toward work (Mai, vol. I, p.141-42)."

"They live in moderate condition. Buildings are for the most part dilapidated. There is very little new construction. There are 5 stone houses, and stone is used in some of the farmsteads. Yards are fenced with stones and wattle. There is a sufficient quantity of this stone on their allotted lands.... Harvested grain is threshed on local threshing floors adjacent to their farmyards.... They have been encouraged to move these threshing floors to a more distant and safer location.... There are vegetable gardens next to all of the homes. They have no orchards, apiaries or mills.... The local grain storage facility is dilapidated, but constructed in a suitable place. Rye, wheat and oats are stored there ... (Mai, vol. I, p.142)."
