     Mary 'Molly' Mitchell Martin was born a 1792. She was the daughter of Levin Martin and Elizabeth 'Betsy' Wise.

     Sir George Yeardley was born in 1587 at Southwark, Surrey Co, England. He was the son of Ralph Yardley and Rhoda Marston. Sir George Yeardley married Temperance Flowerdieu, daughter of Anthony Flowerdew and Martha Stanley, c 1613 at Jamestown, Virginia. Sir George Yeardley died on 13 Nov 1627 at Jamestown, Virginia. He was buried at Jamestown, Virginia.

      Capt. George Yeardley earned knighthood as an officer in the wars of England's ally, Holland, against Spain. He served in the Virginia militia and founded Henrico and other settlements on the James River. George was granted Weyanoke plantation and 2,000 acres, part of which became Flower de Hundred, named after his wife.

Beginning in 1610 he served as a member of the Council of Jamestown. He was first deputy governor and then governor of Virginia three times beginning about 1615 and ending with his death in office. He lived in the Governor's House in Jamestown. He held counsel in the small wooden Jamestown church. The development of Virginia into an agricultural colony was largely determined by an elaborate labor system founded during Governor Yeardley's administration; he worked to establish tobacco as the cash crop in the area.

     Temperance Flowerdieu was born c 1590 at Norfolk Co, England. She was the daughter of Anthony Flowerdew and Martha Stanley. Temperance Flowerdieu immigrated in Aug 1609. She married Sir George Yeardley, son of Ralph Yardley and Rhoda Marston, c 1613 at Jamestown, Virginia. Temperance Flowerdieu died in Dec 1628 at Jamestown, Virginia.

     Argoll Yeardley II was born c 1647. He was the son of COL Argoll Yeardley I and Frances Knight. Argoll Yeardley II married Sarah Michael, daughter of CPT John Michael II (1st son John) and Elizabeth Thorowgood, on 23 Jan 1671 at Northampton Co, Virginia. Argoll Yeardley II died on 29 Aug 1682 at Northampton Co, Virginia.

     Sarah Michael was born in 1654 at Northampton Co, Virginia. She was the daughter of CPT John Michael II (1st son John) and Elizabeth Thorowgood. Sarah Michael married Argoll Yeardley II, son of COL Argoll Yeardley I and Frances Knight, on 23 Jan 1671 at Northampton Co, Virginia. Sarah Michael married Dr James Watts a 1682. Sarah Michael married Thomas Maddox b 28 May 1689 at Northampton Co, Virginia. Her estate was probated on 29 Mar 1697 at Northampton Co, Virginia.

     Billie Jo Frances Winslett was born on 5 Jul 1929 at Milam Co, Texas. She was the daughter of Wiliam Johnston Winslett and Lena Elizabeth Tucker. Billie Jo Frances Winslett married Robert "Bob" O. Cone II c 1948. Billie Jo Frances Winslett died on 5 Aug 2011 at Seguin, Guadaloupe Co, Texas, at age 82.

     Robert "Bob" O. Cone II married Billie Jo Frances Winslett, daughter of Wiliam Johnston Winslett and Lena Elizabeth Tucker, c 1948.

     COL Argoll Yeardley I was born on 31 Aug 1618 at London, England. He was the son of Sir George Yeardley and Temperance Flowerdieu. COL Argoll Yeardley I married Frances Knight on 9 Mar 1636 at Saint Stephen, Coleman, London, England. COL Argoll Yeardley I married Ann Custis, daughter of Henry Custis and Joan (Unknown), c 1649 at Rotterdam, Holland, Netherlands. COL Argoll Yeardley I died b 29 Oct 1655 at Northampton Co, Virginia.

      Col Argall Yeardley, a planter, was a leading citizen of Virginia.

     Ann Custis was born c 1633 at Holland, Netherlands. She was the daughter of Henry Custis and Joan (Unknown). Ann Custis married COL Argoll Yeardley I, son of Sir George Yeardley and Temperance Flowerdieu, c 1649 at Rotterdam, Holland, Netherlands. Ann Custis married John Wilcox c 1656. Ann Custis married John Luke a 1660.

     John Wilcox was born a 1630. He married Ann Custis, daughter of Henry Custis and Joan (Unknown), c 1656.

     John Luke was born a 1635. He married Ann Custis, daughter of Henry Custis and Joan (Unknown), a 1660.

     William Armistead was born a 1698. He married Margaret Custis a 1725.

     Margaret Custis was born a 1705. She married William Armistead a 1725.

      Margaret Custis was apparently the second wife of William Armistead but may have been his daughter.

     Thomas Cable was born a 1698. He married Sorrowful Margaret Custis, daughter of COL John Custis III (of Wilsonia) and Margaret Michael, on 25 May 1723 at Northampton Co, Virginia.

     Elizabeth "Betty" Cable was born on 18 Sep 1727. She was the daughter of Thomas Cable and Sorrowful Margaret Custis.

     Esther Cable was born c 1723 at Northampton Co, Virginia. She was the daughter of Thomas Cable and Sorrowful Margaret Custis. Esther Cable married COL Thomas Preeson on 12 Mar 1739 at Northampton Co, Virginia.

     Sorrowful Margaret Custis was born c 1692 at Northampton Co, Virginia. She was the daughter of COL John Custis III (of Wilsonia) and Margaret Michael. Sorrowful Margaret Custis married William Kendall III, son of CPT William Kendall II (the elder) and Anne Mason, c 1707. Sorrowful Margaret Custis married Thomas Cable on 25 May 1723 at Northampton Co, Virginia. Sorrowful Margaret Custis died on 11 Dec 1750 at Northampton Co, Virginia.

      Sorrow Margaret Custis was so named because her mother died in childbirth. Sorrowful made a will on 24 Oct 1750 at Northampton Co, VA: To my son in law Col Thomas Preeson and my daughter Esther Preeson all my right in Jingoteague Island and Morris Island in Accomack Co. To daughter Esther Preeson 6 silver spoons marked "SMC" and the picture of Col John Custis in the hall. To my son Maj Custis Kendall my large walnut table which he is to give to his son William Kendall. To my son George Kendall my dictionary called Phillips's. To my daughter Elizabeth Wise all my Russia leather chairs, and the use of the two plantations at Kings Creek for the benefit of John Wise junior and William Parsons. To my daughter Sarah Parsons my mulatto wench Lucy. To my grandson Littleton Kendall. If my son Custis Kendall should take action against my executors as regards a bond given him by my late husband Col Thomas Cable pertaining to maintenance of the plantation whereon I now live, then none of the repairs specified herein to be completed. My daughter Elizabeth Wise residual legatee. My sons in law John Wise and William Parsons executors with my son George Kendall and son in law Thomas Preeson to assist them. Wittnesses: Sarah (X) Caple, Levin Evans, Edward Holbrooke.

     Henrietta Kendall was born in 1720. She was the daughter of William Kendall III and Sorrowful Margaret Custis.

     Louisa E. Bowden was born a 1841. She married Samuel Winslett, son of Edmond Jackson Winslett and Mary 'Polly' Piper, c 1861.

     Col. Thomas Johnson I (Burgess) was born c 1615 at England. He married Mary Berryman b 1642. Col. Thomas Johnson I (Burgess) married Jane Larrimore c 1648. Col. Thomas Johnson I (Burgess) died b 28 Dec 1658.

      Thomas Johnson I left his Old Neck land to his son Thomas in 1658.

     Leonard Magee Cox was born on 28 Feb 1907. He married Thelma Louise "Debbie" Winslett, daughter of Wiliam Johnston Winslett and Lena Elizabeth Tucker, a 1933. Leonard Magee Cox died on 23 Jan 1970 at Texas at age 62.

     John Michael was born c 1595 at Graft, Holland, Netherlands.

      John Michael had two sons both named John, both of whom named sons Symon, so it is possible that the John Michael born circa 1595 was married to a Ms. Symon. Moody Miles used Ancestors of Hannah Furniss Tull by Rob Hall as the source.

     CPT Henry Custis I was born c 1680 at Northampton Co, Virginia. He was the son of COL John Custis III (of Wilsonia) and Margaret Michael. CPT Henry Custis I married Tabitha Scarburgh Custis, daughter of Edmund Custis (of Deep Creek) and Tabitha Smart Whittington, c 1710 at Accomack Co, Virginia. CPT Henry Custis I married Ann Kendall, daughter of CPT William Kendall II (the elder) and Anne Mason, in 1722. CPT Henry Custis I was buried at 'Mount Custis', Accomack Co, Virginia. His estate was probated on 6 Mar 1732/33 at Accomack Co, Virginia.

      Col Henry Custis also lived at a plantation called "Mount Custis" but his home was in Accomack Co, VA as opposed to Northampton Co, VA which was the location of the "Mount Custis" owned by the Michael side of the family. He was captain of Accomack County militia in 1698.

Henry made a will on 11 Oct 1729 at Accomack Co, VA: Wife Ann to have use of my dwelling plantation during her widow. Eldest son to have liberty to seat himself on that part I bought of William Selby when he comes to age or marries. To sons Henry & Robinson Custis land where I now live containing 1333 acres. To sons Henry, Robinson & Thomas all my land & marshes on Jengoteague Island. To son Thomas 600 acres at Massongoe, also 600 acres near Deep Creek. To daughters Ann, Tabitha & Frances. Children to be at age at 18. Should my wife be with child, said child to have an equal share of my estate with my other children. Wife Ann & son Henry Exrs. To daughter Leah Custis. Daughter Margaret Scarburgh, wife of Henry Scarburgh, Jr. Wife & children residual legatees. Witt: John Scarburgh, Richard Cooper, Sarah Custis. Codicil: 10 Dec. 1732 - To wife Ann my schooner called Ann for her better support to maintain & educate my children. To daughter Margaret, wife of Henry Scarburgh, Jr. a child's share of my cattle & horses. Witt: William Wood, Samuel Simson, Thomas Simson.

     Elizabeth Robinson was born c 1626 at England. She was the daughter of William Robinson I and Elizabeth Mewe.³ Elizabeth Robinson married Robert Eyre (Burgess) c 1650. Elizabeth Robinson married MG John Custis II (of Arlington), son of Henry Custis and Joan (Unknown), b 16 Jul 1651. Elizabeth Robinson died b 1656.

     MG John Custis II (of Arlington) was born in 1629 at Rotterdam, Holland, Netherlands. He was the son of Henry Custis and Joan (Unknown). MG John Custis II (of Arlington) immigrated in 1651 to Virginia. He married Elizabeth Robinson, daughter of William Robinson I and Elizabeth Mewe, b 16 Jul 1651. MG John Custis II (of Arlington) married Alicia (Unknown) in 1656. MG John Custis II (of Arlington) married Tabitha Scarburgh, daughter of COL Edmund Scarburgh II (Burgess) and Mary Cade or Harmer, a 1675. MG John Custis II (of Arlington) died on 29 Jan 1695/96 at 'Arlington', Northampton Co, Virginia. He was buried at Northampton Co, Virginia. His estate was probated on 10 Feb 1695/96 at Northampton Co, Virginia.

      Maj John Custis II built 'Arlington' mansion on the south shore of Old Plantation Creek in Northampton Co, VA in the early 1670s. In 1676 during Bacon's Rebellion, Virginia's royal governor William Berkeley fled from the captial at Jamestown, taking refuge temporarily with John; thus for a short while 'Arlington' was the capital of the Virginia colony.

John was a merchant, surveror of Northampton Co on 23 Nov 1653, Surveyor-General of Virginia in 1662, sheriff on 16 Apr 1665, Major General of Milia in 1675, a member of the Council the same year, Burgess for Northampton Co in 1677, and a member of the Council from 1680 to 1692. He took the oath of allegiance to be true and faithful to the Commonwealth of England as it was established without King or House of Lords on 30 March 1651 at Northampton Co, VA.

John made a will on 18 March 1691 at Northampton Co, VA. The lands in this will became an issue of litigation in 1752 in later generations: To my kinsman John Bradhurst 500 acres being part of my land in Jollyes Neck in Accomack County according to my deed of gift recorded in Accomack. To my kinsman Edmond Custis son of my brother Thomas Custis 800 acres at Deep Creek, Accomack Co, abutting upon the 1750 acres given herein to my wife Tabitha Custis and upon the 1000 acres patented and belonging to the heirs of Tabitha Smart deceased. To Smart the son of William Whittington all my right to the said 1000 acres. To my wife Tabitha the said 1750 acres being 1/2 of 3500 acres formerly patented in her and her sister Matilda's names. To my wife negroes Kate, Charles, Jeremy, child Rose, child Jenny, Jack, Jenny (Gabriel's daughter), Betty, Ned, Maria and her boy Simon, Tom Bell, Long Tom, Gabriel and Indian Jone. To wife Tabitha, servants Beadle, Stephen Troyman, Taylor Boy and Elenor Moghull (Irish woman) for the term they have to serve. My slave Gabriel Jacob, mentioned above, to be allowed to work on the sloop for 4 years, and then to be free. To wife miscellaeous items at my mansion house called Arlington including her gold chain for her neck and locketts, pocket watch, and anything in passage for Virginia. To wife for life all the land and plantation I now live on at Arlington together with the mansion house and my island called Mockon Island, with all the appurtainences thereto belonging, and then to my grandson John Custis and his male heirs. To my said grandson John Custis (under 21) negroes Jefery, Bess, boy Peter, Mall, Tucker, Sarah, Namey, young Daniel, Sandy, Gustiva, Bab, Tom and Sarah. To my said grandson my island called Smith's Island, and the great Dutch press and gilded looking glass at Arlington. To my son John Custis the remainder of my lands and plantations wheresoever or whatsoever, my diamond ring, pocket watch, swords and belts, and riding saddle with holsters and pistols. Remaining estate in Virginia, Maryland, England, Scotland, Ireland or elsewhere (except for £100 which I give to my son John for the education of his child John my grandson for school and board in England) to be equally divided by my wife and son John.      John Custis I alias Cliffe was born in 1592 at Gloucestershire, England. He was the son of Edmund Custis I alias Clift and Bridgett Smithier. John Custis I alias Cliffe married Joane Smithier, daughter of (Unknown) Smithier, c 1625. John Custis I alias Cliffe died in 1644 at England.

      John Custis may have been born in Ireland, lived in England and he was a hotel keeper in Rotterdam, Holland before immigrating to Virginia. He married his first cousin.

     William "Bill" Jay Cone was born on 16 Sep 1950 at Cuero, DeWitt Co, Texas. He was the son of Robert "Bob" O. Cone II and Billie Jo Frances Winslett. William "Bill" Jay Cone died on 21 Nov 2012 at Seguin, Guadaloupe Co, Texas, at age 62.
