     Madrack Merritt was born a 1762. He was the son of Pvt. Thomas Merritt and Mary (Unknown).

     Bethiah Merritt was born a 1764. She was the daughter of Pvt. Thomas Merritt and Mary (Unknown). Bethiah Merritt married (Unknown) Knight a 1782.

     Bethany Merritt was born a 1766. She was the daughter of Pvt. Thomas Merritt and Mary (Unknown). Bethany Merritt married Robert Knight a 1784.

     Robert Knight was born a 1761. He married Bethany Merritt, daughter of Pvt. Thomas Merritt and Mary (Unknown), a 1784.

      Researchers show John Merritt junior's first wife was Sallie Williams but descendant Charles Rathbun has not found proof of this.

     Sarah "Sallie" Merritt was born a 1762. She was the daughter of Pvt. John Merritt II and (1st wife of John Merritt Jr) (Unknown). Sarah "Sallie" Merritt married Unknown Overton a 1778.

     Unknown Overton was born a 1757. He married Sarah "Sallie" Merritt, daughter of Pvt. John Merritt II and (1st wife of John Merritt Jr) (Unknown), a 1778.

     Prudence Green was born a 1750. She married Pvt. John Merritt II, son of Cpl. John Merritt I and Mary (Unknown), a 1770. Prudence Green died in 1838. She was buried at Kittrell, Vance Co, North Carollina.

     William Henley was born a 1733. He married Amey "Amee" Merritt, daughter of Cpl. John Merritt I and Mary (Unknown), a 1756.

      Henleys were in the NC counties of Edgecombe, Halifax, and later Franklin, so it is possible they followed the Stones and Merritts to Franklin Co.

     Joseph Leeman III was born a 1735. He married Elizabeth "Betsey" Merritt, daughter of Cpl. John Merritt I and Mary (Unknown), a 1758.

     Hannah (Unknown) was born a 1764. She married Benjamin Merritt II, son of Benjamin Merritt I and Sarah Whitehead, a 1786.

     William Merritt was born a 1787. He was the son of Benjamin Merritt II and Hannah (Unknown).

     Elizabeth Merritt was born a 1781. She was the daughter of William Merritt. Elizabeth Merritt married Ezekiel Brown a 1799.

     Ezekiel Brown was born a 1776. He married Elizabeth Merritt, daughter of William Merritt, a 1799.

     Nancy Merritt was born a 1783. She was the daughter of William Merritt. Nancy Merritt married Lemuel Green a 1801. Nancy Merritt died b 1827.

     Lemuel Green was born a 1778. He married Nancy Merritt, daughter of William Merritt, a 1801.

     (Unknown) Knight was born a 1759. He married Bethiah Merritt, daughter of Pvt. Thomas Merritt and Mary (Unknown), a 1782.

     Thomas S. Merritt was born on 18 Feb 1770 at Tarboro, Edgecombe Co, North Carolina. He was the son of James Merritt and Mary Scrutchens. Thomas S. Merritt married Rebecca Applewhite on 20 Jun 1799 at Nash Co, North Carolina. Thomas S. Merritt died on 6 Jul 1857 at Peytonsville, Williamson Co, Tennessee, at age 87. He was buried at Merritt Cemetery, Williamson Co, Tennessee.

     Rebecca Applewhite was born on 24 Jul 1773. She married Thomas S. Merritt, son of James Merritt and Mary Scrutchens, on 20 Jun 1799 at Nash Co, North Carolina. Rebecca Applewhite died on 24 Nov 1863 at age 90.
